Bawa Kiwanuka

Principal

Bio

Bawa Kiwanuka is a Principal in the Capital Markets team. He joined Apax in 2021 and is currently based in London. 

Prior to joining Apax, Bawa was a Vice President in HSBC's Leveraged Finance and Acquisitions Group in London, where he advised both private equity and corporate clients. Previously, Bawa was an Associate in Credit Suisse's Investment Banking division in New York and focused on M&A and financing transactions in the Global Industrials Group. 

Bawa holds an MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business. He also holds a BBA in Finance and Marketing from the University of Miami.

Living our values

My parents are my inspiration. Both overcame adversity to create industry-leading businesses in East Africa largely by feeding off of their international experiences and relationships. In order to instil the core values that propelled them through life, I was afforded a global upbringing. I have studied and lived in 4 countries across 3 continents. My life experiences across these geographies has taught me the benefits of understanding diverse perspectives, and maintaining an open mind so as to keep learning, adapting and improving. This is why “learn, adapt and grow” are Apax values that strongly resonate with me.

Bawa's Story

Bawa joined Apax in 2021 and was attracted by the firm’s history, global reach and unique collaborative team culture - irrespective of seniority. Bawa is a member of the Capital Markets Team and enjoys working with the firm’s deal teams, management teams and third party financial institutions to effectively solve complex financing solutions and optimize portfolio companies’ capital structures. Outside of work, Bawa is passionate about ALL things sport.
