Apax Funds have backed a diverse range of retail, consumer and leisure businesses across its global platform: companies such as Somerfield and New Look in the UK; Plantasjen in Scandinavia; CBR in Germany; Sisal and Panrico in Southern Europe and Tommy Bahama, Spyder and LifeTime Fitness in the USA as well as global brands such as Tommy Hilfiger and PVH/Calvin Klein.

The Retail & Consumer team is made up of 23 investment professionals globally, including seven partners, spread throughout North America, Europe and Asia. The team has a range of professional backgrounds and wide experience across many segments within retail, consumer and leisure.

The shareholders of Violet Acquisitions Limited, which include funds advised by Apax Partners, Barclays Capital, the Tchenguiz Family Trust and Kaupthing, have today agreed the sale of Somerfield Limited to the Co-Operative Group for £1.565bn.
